How many weeks will it take?

Every client is different but my goal for everyone is emotional & relational health.  I will be available to help for as long as you feel comfortable.  As you progress in your treatment plan & goals are met, the time between sessions will increase until you feel ready to end regular sessions.  You are then always welcome to come back for sessions as needed.

Can I just come once to try it out?

Many people are nervous about whether they will connect or feel comfortable talking with a counselor.  If after your first paid session it is not a good fit, I am happy to recommend you to other professionals.

Will I have homework between sessions?

Yes, when considered necessary to fulfill the goals and treatment plan agreed upon by the client & myself homework will be given.  This may include reading assignments, journaling, & answering questions I will give you.

What if my spouse won’t come?

If you are wanting to work on your marriage and your spouse will not come there is still a great deal we can do on an individual level .  I will also help you with ways to involve your spouse in the process in a healthy & encouraging manner.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

Please reach out via phone or email 24 hours of the scheduled time. Appointments missed without notification or clients who cancel on the same day will be charged the full fee for that session. Special consideration will be given in the event of an emergency.

Are sessions confidential?

Restoration Counseling upholds the highest ethical standards of client confidentiality so as to ensure emotional safety and security.  Only in situations of abuse to children, the elderly, or in cases where there is suicidal or homicidal intent, or when legally required by the court to do so will confidentiality be broken.

What will people think of me if they know I’m seeing a counselor?

There is no shame in going to a medical doctor when you have an injury and there is no shame in seeing a Christian counselor when you have an emotional or relational injury.  There is an unfortunate stigma our society has built around counseling that keeps people from getting the help they need.  Seeing a counselor just means that you want to talk to someone who is professionally trained to help you look at your individual situation, and provide advice & tools so that you can grow & heal.
